The Many Lives of Miss K is a scripted TV series about the life of Toto Koopman, based on the book by Jean-Noël Liaut.

The series chronicles Koopman’s extraordinary life, from her beginnings as a mixed-race Vogue model in 1930s Paris to her service as a spy for the Italian resistance during World War II.

In the 1930s, Koopman became the first mixed-race model featured in French Vogue and worked with designers like Chanel and Mainbocher.

During WWII, she spied for the Allies and Italian Resistance, was imprisoned at the notorious women’s concentration camp at Ravensbrück, and later freed in a prisoner exchange.

After the war she moved to London and helped establish the influential Hanover Gallery with her partner, Erica Brausen, where they launched the career of artist Francis Bacon. Openly bisexual, she also had relationships with actress Tallulah Bankhead and newspaper magnate Lord Beaverbrook.
