North Star is the true story of Ann Mari Tengbom, a young Swedish woman who married into the Bismarck family in the late 1920s and found herself at the heart of the establishment of Hitler’s Germany. Faced with the choice to remain in Nazi Germany or escape back to her native Sweden she decided to stay and try to make a difference from within. Her humanitarian actions culminated in her involvement in the White Buses movement, which saved thousands from the Nazi concentration camps.

Ann Mari’s journey from innocence to experience has all the ingredients of a compelling story – high stakes, universal themes, an intriguing central love triangle and an array of compelling real life characters. Similar to The King’s Speech and The Queen, North Star explores the personal lives of public figures and examines the conflict between duty and conscience.
